Paediatric dentistry is dedicated to the oral healthcare of children from infancy to teen years.
Paediatric dentistry involves a wide range of oral healthcare that includes:
- Infant oral health examination and education
- Preventive dental care including cleaning and fluoride application
- Habit counseling (for example, pacifier use and thumb sucking)
- Early assessment and interceptive orthodontic treatment for malocclusion
- Early childhood caries management
- Management of oral conditions associated with systemic diseases such as diabetes, congenital heart defects, etc.
- Management of gum diseases and oral conditions including ulcers, cysts, and paediatric periodontal disease
- Childhood dental injury management such as fractured, displaced, or avulsed tooth
- Management of children with special needs, highly anxious children and children not being cooperative during the treatment that might require behavioral management
Our paediatric dentist has an accredited certificate in nitrous oxide/oxygen (N2O/O2) inhalation sedation for paediatric dentistry (a.k.a laughing gas sedation).
